Nancy Boyden, ARNP is a board-certified Adult Primary Care Practitioner, she loves the art of practicing Functional Medicine with her patients. When she was going to school to become a Nurse Practitioner she didn't learn about Functional Medicine. However, after attending a medical conference after graduating from NYU, she was hooked. She first tried it on herself since she was chronically exhausted and didn't have any energy past 10 am.

Her blood work was 'normal' and she was told by her provider that she was just 'getting old'. At 38 years old, she was not satisfied with that answer! That is not old! So when she first learned about Functional Medicine, which requires looking at patients on a cellular level, she was intrigued.

Her mentor recommended saliva testing to check cortisol levels. He informed her that her adrenal glands were shot, so he treated her with supplements/hormones for 6-9 months. She never felt better. One year after that she was back to riding her road bike and did the Seattle To Portland ride which is a 100-mile ride! She had more energy and felt more centered.

There is an art to medicine. With insurance companies dictating more and more how we should approach patients, the art of practicing Functional Medicine cannot be taken away!

She is living the dream!
